Mission: The Sustainability Through Student Voices conference is designed to empower students, teachers, administrators, and parents to implement systemic changes around the critical issues of sustainability. It is the power of our collective voices that will enable us to take the actions necessary to secure a sustainable future for our communities and our planet.
Jaimie Cloud Our 2019 Keynote Speaker
Jaimie is passionate about “the potential of schools and communities learning and working together toward sustainable community development.”
This conference is appropriate students in 6th grade and higher, and we encourage schools to bring a 'pod' consisting of students, teachers, administrators, parents, trustees. Register your team here.
This year's conference will also feature a special panel on youth activism and environmental justice!
Our afternoon panel discussion will feature two students who attended the COP24 conference in Poland, representatives from Zero Hour NYC and Sunrise NYC, and Zubaida Bello, a spoken word artist who presented her poem at the recent UN Conference in NYC.
The "Blue Wave" Art Installation
We are thrilled to announce that Pratt student and artist Samuel Pressman will be at the conference with his (massive!) installation built from the plastic waste produced in just 24 hours by the Pratt community. This piece is a great example of how to use design and visual impact to help inspire change. You'll also be able to meet the artist during lunch!
Lunchtime activism activities
Take a moment during lunch for a Last Straw Campaign update and action opportunity, a chance to meet the Blue Wave artist and members of the Pratt LEAP environmental activism group, and a chance to connect with Shien-Ru Tsa, Founder of Commit to Green, to discuss ideas about innovating for sustainability!
